The SV Kaya Mission

Our mission is to empower fellow cancer patients with inspiration and support on their healing journey. We believe in the power of staying active to boost physical and mental well-being during treatment. Encouraging and uplifting each other as we embrace fitness as a tool for strength and resilience! We are proud to donate our time and our beautiful boat to take fellow cancer patients out on the water. By immersing ourselves in the soothing embrace of the ocean, we believe we can find strength, hope, and renewed joy in life. Sailing allows us to leave our worries on the shore, filling our hearts with a sense of serenity and reminding us of the beauty that surrounds us, even during tough times.
If you or someone you know could benefit from a day of sailing, please reach out to us. We would be honored to have you on board and share this extraordinary experience together.
We have now applied for 501c3 status which will allow us to do so much more for our fellow cancer warriors!
A little about us:
We're Jeff and Julie Ready and we've always had an adventurous and nomadic spirit. We were married in 1995 and we have traveled all over North America, Mexico, and the Caribbean. We settled down in 2009 and eventually bought our home on the Emerald Coast of Florida in Panama City Beach but after Jeff was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in 2020 we knew the best medicine and therapy was to stay active and begin checking items off our bucket list. It was important for Jeff to show other cancer patients in treatment that you can, and should, continue to go out and do the things you've always wanted to do, stay as active as the treatments will allow, and live life to the fullest.
We truly believe that living life, staying positive, and staying active are the keys to beating the odds. The doctor gave expectations for Jeff of less than a year but thanks to a treatment combination of Chemo, Radiation, and Immunotherapy, as well as staying active, here we are 3 years later and have no plans to slow down. Although Jeff is not in remission, he is however considered "stable".
Because of the immunotherapy (Keytruda), and commitment to push harder than he should most times, he has managed to build a teardrop trailer by hand in our garage for our daughter, and in 2022 purchased a sailboat which we have nearly completed a refit on with the intention of sailing it along the Gulf Coast of Florida, to the Bahamas, and down to the Caribbean, while visiting and meeting other cancer patients, especially those who may be struggling and hopefully inspire and assist them in a better quality of life.
Our goal is to get a larger sailboat in the near future, and circumnavigate the globe taking this message and mission around the world. So follow us on this journey of exploration, as we show you both the good and bad times, the laughter, tears, struggles and accomplishments, tips on living life to the fullest on a budget (Because we all know this disease is expensive), tips on managing treatment side effects, traveling with cancer, and in the end just living a great story. So follow along as we get "Inspire Hope, Live Life, and Never Give Up".

Inspire Life

"I hope that by sharing our story and our experiences, both good and bad, that it may inspire others to just live life to the fullest. Sure it's not always easy, or affordable, and most of the time it may just be hard, but by staying even just a little active and finding that 'purpose' to keep going each day is the key to longevity. The power of your mind and body's ability to help heal itself is increased 10 fold with every activity."
Jeff Ready

Of course always check with your doctor and follow their advice.
